I swear, most of the time I feel totally fine in the situation, and it’s only afterwards that I get all self-conscious and paranoid. 

Like at prom, I was going all out and dancing like crazy. I didn’t go with a date and most of my original friends kind of ignored me… but I had a totally awesome time. I didn’t get affected whatsoever. 

But when I woke up in the morning it all came crashing down on me. All the times people were complimenting each others dresses and appearances, I was just awkwardly standing there not getting complimented on my dress… And though I shouldn’t expect compliments… everyone was getting them. I only got reciprocated compliments. *shrugs* I guess my dress didn’t look all that great. Whatever. 

And I’m realizing who I’m actually comfortable with, and who makes me feel like shit all the time, and I’m wondering if I should just stop trying with certain people. 

I’m lost in the black abyss of high school society with no one to hold onto. 

And I feel like I’m way too confident for my own good. Like I think I’m the pretty cool, but all the evidence is stacking up against that conclusion and I should just lower my expectations. 

Bah…
